Amanda Holmes Rowland, DVM : President and Student Liaison

Cell: 859-324-5851

Email: arowlanddvm@myveterinarycareer.com

Amanda was born in a small town in central Kentucky. Her earliest memories are with her mother, a nurse, spending countless hours caring for their own animals and rescued wildlife. These simple actions set her feet on the path to Veterinary Medicine. At the age of seven she told her parents "I want to be an animal doctor when I grow up.” Twenty years later, she walked down the aisle to receive a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine. During the twenty years between the conception of the dream and fulfillment of that dream she had a wonderful time chasing other endeavors and playing sports. Her achievements on the hardwood led to a college scholarship at a top notch NAIA school. When her career was cut short by an injury, she was presented with the opportunity to coach both basketball and track. Spending time teaching and encouraging teenagers gave her a deep desire to help others achieve their dreams. In her life she had been told many times by doubters that "girls can't play ball" or "you'll never be a doctor." Over the years, she has worked hard to quiet those voices. They continue to be a not so gentle reminder that dreams are most rewarding, when earned. In her own words “My mission is to help others make those voices a little softer by helping them pursue and achieve the position they love. In doing so, I will have made the world a little better. This is why I have chosen to work with My Veterinary career. As Director of Student Activities I want to help all of us "Dream Chasers" get one step closer the success we strive for. Amanda graduated from Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2007 and has since been working in a mixed animal practice in Central Kentucky.

As an owner of My Veterinarian Career, Dr. Rowland serves as the Director of Student Affairs, serving as the liaison between the graduating veterinary students and their potential employers. Through My Veterinary Career, she is the coordinator and facilitator of educational meetings and round table discussion for the VBMA chapters and school clubs at veterinary schools across North America.

Dr. Rowland is an active member of her community and church. She was a founding member of the Vineyards' children's church program and assisted in developing the self sustaining program. She has volunteered her time on church mission’s trips around the world, including Peru, Jamaica and Africa, and across the state of Kentucky. In November 2007, she was blessed to become the bride of Aaron Rowland D.V.M (Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, 2007). They live in the historic town of Danville, Kentucky with their two near prefect dogs, Susie and Bodie.

Bo Williamson, DVM: Professional Matchmaker

Email: BWilliamsonDVM@myveterinarycareer.com

Bo graduated from Auburn University in 1981 and headed west to Wyoming to practice in a five-man mixed animal practice for several years. Deciding he wanted to try a specialty practice, he headed to upstate New York to work in a four-man dairy practice for two years. Both were great experiences and led to the decision to return to Kentucky (home) and purchase 2 practices in Elizabethtown. After 10 years of mixed animal practice and tremendous growth, he elected to drop the large animal aspects and continue as a small animal practitioner. In 1988, he sold the practice and moved first to Florida, then California, and most recently to Cincinnati, Ohio to follow his wife’s career as a university professor. After 28 years of clinical experience and owning 4 practices, he decided to retire, and join My Veterinary Career, knowing too well the difficulties in hiring exceptional staff (veterinarians, practice managers, and certified veterinary technicians). He has been an active member of many professional veterinary organizations, holding several offices. He still maintains active licenses in 10 states. All of these past experiences make him an excellent and expedient listener to what veterinarians really want and need to hire into their practices.

In his spare time, he enjoys investing in the stock market, veterinary practices, and real estate, as well as home brewing beer, hiking, and wine tasting, and traveling.
